Whitehouse Road, Crammond Project Info
Located in Crammond Village, an otherwise generic 1950's suburban house is enlivened by a 'stone' street-front facade that was grafted onto the face of the building in an attempt to create a sense of scale and grandeur. Taking our cue from this approach, we have developed a design for a 'garden-front' applied facade, which wraps around the back of the house, including a new 'L' shaped extension.
This cladding is to be in a perforated and power-coated aluminium mesh, allowing plants to colonise the facade. This creates both a light-weight and variegated effect and makes a strong connection between garden and building. The entirety of the house is to be refurbished, with completion due in late 2019.
