Scottish National Waterski CentreProject Info
Situated in Townhill Country Park on the Northern edge of Dunfermline, the existing building was constructed in 2001, providing changing, storage and office space for Waterski Scotland as well as a café for visitors to the park, however the layout had several shortcomings with almost no outlook to the loch and only a series of dark and uninsulated spaces for the water-skiers.
We developed plans for the extension and refurbishment of the building aiming to improve accessibility, provide better visual connections out to the activities on the water and to enhance the environmental performance of the existing structure. The new extension takes the form of a compact, glazed pavilion with a triangulated, hipped-roof that rises up to a central peak on the waterfront. A funding application to Sports Scotland was successful and work started on site in January 2016. It is now a facility that is suitable for introducing a new generation to the thrill of waterskiing.
The completed building was shortlisted for a 2017, RIAS award.
