DrumnakyleProject Info

An extension to a farmhouse set in an elevated position on a hillside above Loch Tummel, surrounded by the ruined settlement of Drumnakyle.

The farmhouse has been extensively refurbishment and an extension added on the West side framing views to Schiehallion and to the loch below. The extension manifests externally as a massive wall, formed using locally salvaged stone. It tapers to a narrow prow and one end and thin steel edges are used at openings and parapet; clearly defining it as a contemporary intervention. A large opening has been formed through the 1m thick gable wall to link this kitchen extension and the main living dining room.
